The Jaguar E-type is a British sports car that was introduced to the general public in 1961. Its production lasted from 1961 to 1975 at the Jaguar factory in Coventry, Great Britain.
The Model E was developed and put into production as the successor to Jaguar's XK150 series. The main designer of the new car was Malcolm Sayer. On many levels, however, the E model referred to the racing Jaguar D-Type. Compared to its predecessor, it differed fundamentally in body style and widely understood design, which made the Jaguar E-type widely regarded as one of the most beautiful sports cars of the 20th century. In addition, the car had good aerodynamic properties thanks to its improved silhouette. There was less revving under the bonnet as power was still a slightly improved engine from the Jaguar XK range which first came out in 1948 and also powered the XK120.
